Joy Magazine-Fall 2020

From the editor…

It’s Fall!

Looking at our cover shot of Rick Hendricks has me already dreaming about cool days that allow me to pursue peaceful exploration during a walk, a run or a hike. Hiking is absolutely invigorating, and I can’t wait to take advantage of all the glorious trails in Alabama, including those we feature in the article on “fave fall hikes.” It shares a variety of options all over the state that will certainly entice you to “lace up” and go for a hike.

Our story in the “Real Life” section of JOY magazine this issue is very special indeed. We are highlighting Hayden McDonald, a young mother of three who is battling breast cancer. I have known Hayden a long time, and I know that her energy and love of exercise has served her well in her fight against breast cancer. She and her family are definitely upbeat people, and, as most survivors will tell you, “the power of prayer” has kept her strong and positive during this difficult period.

Truly every article in our fall issue is special. From artist Leigh Anne Newell’s beautiful and intriguing “tiny art” to the importance of weight training to keep our bodies healthy and strong, you will learn about something that you didn’t know before.

As we continue to move through out lives carefully during the pandemic, I want to wish you all a safe and healthy fall season. Let’s continue to follow th erules of science and wear masks to protect each other. Be kind, Be patient, Remember, we are all in this together!

Wishing you health, happiness and Joy to Life!

Joy Blondheim
