A Frantic Call

Jamiliah Rodgers is a proud mother of five children, so naturally, her kids are always on her mind. That was especially the case when she found a mass in one of her breasts while taking a shower.

After her initial fear was over (thanks in large part to a frantic call to Joy to Life where she spoke with founder Joy Blondheim), Jamiliah went on to receive her diagnosis and subsequent treatment, all the while keeping her children at the forefront of her thoughts.

When things got tough, she would always tell herself that she had to be strong for her kids. At times, she would find solace and allow herself time to cry in the same place where her journey began…in the shower. But instead of rushing out in a panic like she did in the beginning, she would allow herself time to linger and let the tears flow down the drain where they belonged. Then she would steel herself and step out to be the mother she knew her children needed her to be.

Jamiliah’s journey is an inspiration. Watch the video to see how she made it from randomly picking up a Joy to Life self exam shower card to becoming a survivor.
