We are always excited to meet people who are helping in the fight against breast cancer. Many times the fight is because they are a survivor or they have a family member who is a survivor. Sometimes they have a friend who is in the middle of the battle. Either way, the one trend we have seen is that once you get on board to fight, you stay on board and keep fighting.
Several years ago we met Coach Reginal Hollins and were introduced to the Tuskegee University’s baseball team and their PINK OUT GAME. The team players are the nicest young men and they look so handsome in the pink uniforms. Coach Hollins says the players love wearing pink and love that their baseball team comes together to raise money for breast cancer.
Their fundraising efforts over the past 5 years has brought in a combined donation total that is nearly $30,000!
At the 2019 Walk of Life, the Tuskegee Golden Tigers were Honorary Starters. As they were introduced, the crowd cheered and you could see first-hand why these young men were a favorite of so many people. One of their players sang the National Anthem to kick off the event and did a beautiful job!
2019 was the sixth year Tuskegee University’s baseball team hosted its PINK OUT GAME to support and benefit the Joy to Life Foundation. Coach Reginald Hollins explained why in a recent interview with our Joy to Life Magazine.
“We were looking for an impactful community service initiative, so we decided to do a game dedicated to a cause,” he said. When we started researching who the game should benefit, I had breast cancer in mind, because I had a friend who went through that. And since the Joy to Life Foundation is based locally and its big event, the Walk of Life, happens during our season, it was a natural fit.”
A huge THANK YOU to Coach Hollins and the Tuskegee Golden Tigers! You guys make PINK look good!
